| Transfers If your destination is on another route, tell the driver you wish to make a transfer. There is no fee to transfer. How much does it COST to ride? AMCAT buses are designed to be affordable for everyone!
Passes can be purchased at the AMCAT Transit Office or from the AMCAT driver when you board. Drivers do not carry cash and cannot make change, exact fare is necessary. HOW do I take the bus? AMCAT busses are easy to use! Simply check the map for the route nearest your location, note which color route takes you to where you want to go and check the schedule for departure/arrival times. You may catch the bus at any corner along the route by waving to an approaching bus. When you get on the bus, you can use an AMCAT ticket/pass, bills or change to pay your fare as you board. (Rates listed above.) Simply place the fare in the Fare Box as you enter, then sit back and enjoy the ride! WHO can use the bus? AMCAT bus service are available to all workers, seniors, youths and families who live and/or work in Austin. WHY should I take the bus? Workers: Taking the bus means saving money! You can get to work and do your shopping without having to own a car. Seniors: Taking the bus means independence! You can do your shopping, get to doctor appointments and attend social outings safely without having to drive yourself or wait for friends and family to take you. Families: Taking the bus means saving time and money! The bus is a great 'second car' getting teens to the mall or helping with family errands when your car is in use. Route Deviations If you live within 3 blocks of a route, you can schedule the bus from that route to pick you up by calling 433-2379 one hour in advance. All AMCAT buses are equipped with wheelchair lifts. However, some passengers may find it difficult to navigate the regular route buses. That is why AMCAT offers a separate curb-to-curb service called Dial-A-Ride for passengers with special needs.
